"The purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think,
but to give you questions to think upon."

- Brandon Sanderson

About Me

Hello, my name is Rebekah, or as I'm known to my students, Miss Hess. I have been a teacher since 2009, first as an English teacher and currently as a theatre teacher at Rock Ridge High School. I began my career in an alternative high school program, and that experience was incredibly influential in my evolution as an educator, specifically in training me in adolescent development and working with at-risk students with a variety of challenges. My current work as a theatre  teacher with Rock Ridge Performing Arts is a challenging and fulfilling

experience as I learn alongside my students. I am passionate about storytelling, creativity, and providing an opportunity for students of all experiences to be included in the creative process of the theatre community. Aside from teaching technical and performance skills during the day, in the after school program I direct and choreograph. I am excited to put my dance and costuming skills to practical use in our high quality productions, and I am proud to be a part of an excellent team of teachers and directors who collaborate to create the best possible process and product for the benefit of our students and community.
